From punchy analog textures to abrasive screaming sounds, explore a flawless emulation of a primal instrument overflowing with attitude and streamlined for modern production. (Not what swayed my decision, but worth a mention.KORG MS-20 V is a virtual instrument for sound explorers in search of the meaner side of analog. I liked the keys on the MicroBrute MUCH more than those on the Korg, if that matters at all to you. This is really a question of what you want to do with your synth.įor what it's worth, I currently own a MicroBrute and not a Korg MS20, though the MS20 is a bit unnecessary for me as I'm also running a full blown modular. The SubPhatty doesn't have the capabilities for anything as sophisticated as the MS20, and it doesn't have much that makes it stand out (like Metalizer or Supersaw on the MicroBrute), but it does classic Moog synth tones quite well, with a few extra options which are nice. The Moog SubPhatty is a good choice if what you care most about is a great classic synth tone, because its filter will give you exactly that. This is really nice in my opinion, but some don't like how they sound. The MS20 is really good if you want a great entry into serious synthesis, with tons of routing capabilities and features (such as Ring Mod and Sample+Hold).īoth of the aforementioned synths have more unusual sounding filters. The MS20 is twice the price of the MicroBrute, and it has many more features than the Microbrute. Lots of really nice sounds, and the patch capabilities make routing intuitive. MicroBrute is an absolutely killer little synth.
